Credits & licences

Jamaah is built on work that other people made and shared. Here is what we use and who it belongs to.

Content and data

Qur'an text
The Uthmani script text comes from the Tanzil project. It is distributed unmodified and used for reading only.
City list
City names and coordinates come from GeoNames, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. We trim the data to city name, country, latitude and longitude, and round the coordinates.
Masjid locations
Masjids shown on the map come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).
Prayer time calculations
Times are calculated on your own phone with the open-source adhan library (MIT).

Software

Jamaah is built with React Native, Expo and Firebase, along with many open-source libraries released under the MIT, Apache 2.0 and BSD licences. The full list of packages and their licences ships with each release and is available on request at jamaahlabs@outlook.com.

A note on the religious content

The explanations in the app are general information to help you learn, not a fatwa. Rulings differ between schools and scholars. For anything that matters to your own practice, please ask a scholar you trust.
